The month started out with the tubing from a pipe in the basement to my ice maker in the frige melting and causing a flood in my kitchen - WHILE I WAS ON VACATION.
Stephanie and Eric, the saints they are, discovered said disaster, turned off the water and sucked up any standing water with the shop vac. I got home and the floor had a very nice buckle (it is wood parquet floor) and minor warping throughout. Got a new frige, insurance adjuster assesed and now I’m waiting to hear from the insurance company. Who knows what the verdict will be.
Yesterday I was so very excited because I am closer to believing that I live in a Sears house. What is a Sears house? That is for another post, but lets say here that once upon a time Sears sold house kits. I went into the basement to start looking around at the underside of the floors for evidence of wear the bathroom may have been before it was moved and I notice the main shut off valve for the water coming into the house is spraying water everywhere. Fabulous. I turn it off. For the second time this month I am without water at home.
I then go upstairs to get a light bulb and notice a small puddle of water on the floor in front of the frige. You’ve got to be kidding me right? Nope. My new appliance is leaking water. Why? Well, for some reason things in the freezer are defrosted and the ice is melting causing the water pool on the floor. WTF?! This is not what I need right now, I want to be figuring out if my house is a Sears house or not!!!
Remove ice tray. Slowly start to wonder if I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown because one more thing cannot go wrong with the house right now.
Longish story short - it is all fixed now. Frige guy fixed the frige, plumber fixed the plumbing. Hopefully none of this will happen when I am in Korea!!
