SATX

San Antonio, Texas! It’s warm! It’s sunny! There is Mexican food and margaritas galore! This lucky librarian is in heaven. While it is snowing at home, I am fortunate enough to be spending a long weekend in Texas for a conference. I walked around this evening in sandals. However brief, it felt good. Feeds my theory that I need to get away someplace warm in the winter time each year. It’s rejuvinating.

I wish Drew could be here with me. It would be great to walk around in the romantic areas of town (the riverwalk) with him. Eat dinner with him, hold his hand. But I guess it is better he isn’t here because if he were I’d be wanting to be out with him and not sitting in the meeting I have to go to the next two days. I miss him though. I called my mom earlier and she got online. There is a web cam that looks at the Alamo, so I wandered over there and she saw me on the web cam!!! We were laughing. Technology these days is pretty amazing.

I’m going to go read, hoping to finish the 5th Harry Potter book soon, I’m hooked!

Happy New Year

I’ve been lazy and I’m proud! I spent Christmas in New Jersey with the family and had a great time. It is always wonderful to see Paige, Emily and Sadie they make my heart swell with so much love. It’s good to see the rest of the fam and friends too. My first day back I went to get my regular first morning in NJ breakfast of taylor ham and cheese on a hard roll. I’m standing in line at the deli and this guy walks in and starts talking and he is SO NJ with his accent etc. For a moment, well, longer than just a moment, I wanted to be back. I wanted to stay. To be close to everyone.

Then I got in my car and started to drive back to Mee-ma’s and realized I’m quite happy in the midwest with far fewer people and fewer jackass drivers.

Goals for the new year: Less debt, less fat and more love
